Il presidente della Nuova AMG Sebastiani Basket, Dr. Gaetano Papalia ha concluso un accordo per l’ingaggio dell’allenatore per la prossima stagione 2009/2010, pur dovendolo subordinare alla regolarizzazione dell’iscrizione al campionato entro il termine dell’11 luglio. L’opzione contrattualmente pattuita riguarda Joe Bryant, indimenticabile giocatore della Sebastiani Rieti negli anni 84/85. Joe Bryant si è dichiarato felicissimo di tornare nella città italiana che egli stesso ha definito “il suo primo amore” e pronto, con chiarezza di idee sui giocatori da ingaggiare, ad assicurare, come lui stesso ha tenuto a sottolineare nell’ultimo contatto con il presidente Papalia, una squadra solida e divertente. A Bryant è stata affidata anche la proposta progettuale in ordine all’ingaggio dei tre giocatori americani e dell’assetto complessivo della squadra. Il padre della stella NBA Kobe, in questi anni si è fatto valere come allenatore e motivatore di eccellente qualità. Joe Bryant, classe 1954, nell’ultima stagione 2008/09 ha allenato i Tokyo Apache nella Eastern Conference della PBJLeague (Professionale Basketball Japan League). Bryant è anche allenatore dei Diablos, squadra dello Slamball. Precedentemente ha allenato Los Angeles Sparks, Boston Frenzy e Las Vegas Rattlers.
Dopo aver frequentato La Salle University, Joe Bryant ha giocato per otto stagioni in NBA. Lasciata la NBA, Bryant ha giocato in Italia dal 1984 al 1991 facendo il suo esordio proprio con la maglia della AMG Sebastiani Rieti. Terminata la carriera di giocatore, Joe Bryant è diventato allenatore.
Il presidente della Nuova AMG Sebastiani Basket Dr. Gaetano Papalia, ove si riuscisse a regolarizzare la posizione del club, comunica di avere già predisposto l’avvio della campagna abbonamenti che sarà promozionata da un messaggio grafico della Argento Ilas, una delle più brillanti società di grafica e comunicazione in Italia. Diversamente dagli anni precedenti, l’andamento della campagna abbonamenti potrà indicare alla dirigenza amarantoceleste l’importanza del roster da allestire. La consistenza economica degli abbonamenti costituirà infatti un indicatore dell’impegno economico che la Sebastiani sosterrà sul mercato degli ingaggi. L’ammontare degli incassi che verrà conseguito nei primi 30 giorni della campagna abbonamenti verrà moltiplicato per tre e definirà il budget della squadra.
Pronta anche a decollare la collezione di prodotti e gadget che, sostanzieranno un forte impegno nel settore del merchandising, essendo già state realizzate le campionature.
Come si può constatare, sono totalmente infondate le accuse di inattività e staticità del club ed appare ancor più evidente che, la malaugurata eventualità del mancato perfezionamento dell’iscrizione al campionato, alla luce del lavoro fin qui svolto, procurerebbe a tutta la famiglia cestistica reatina un ancor più profondo e doloroso senso di frustrazione. In tal caso emergeranno con evidenza le responsabilità di chi, a differenza della dirigenza amarantoceleste che ha continuato a profondere un incessante impegno, non abbia invece fatto la propria parte o abbia addirittura ostacolato il protrarsi di questa entusiasmante avventura.
